September is National Preparedness Month

With September being National Preparedness Month, I thought this would be a good time to share how regular safety training can benefit your workplace.
Did you know that sudden cardiac arrest accounts for thousands of deaths each year in the workplace? While national survival rates are just 8–10%, if CPR is started immediately and an AED is used quickly, survival can jump to as high as 70–90%. Yet many employees don’t know where the AED is located or feel prepared to respond in an emergency.
American Heart Association, the Red Cross, Health Safety Institute, and National Safety Council all advocate for having regular CPR AED First Aid training in the workplace which includes having a well organized emergency action plan.
I have spoken with employees who have administered CPR/AED in the workplace and saved fellow colleagues! I have had numerous people share with me that they have used choking relief techniques they learned in my emergency training classes to save fellow colleagues who were choking. It's music to my ears!
Here are just a few benefits of making safety training part of your workplace culture:
Gives employees the confidence to act quickly in emergencies
Reduces accidents and lowers injury costs
Creates a stronger, more engaged team environment
In addition to CPR and first aid, I now offer two interactive programs that address today’s urgent risks:
Stop the Bleed – a 45-minute training on controlling life-threatening bleeding
Active Violence Emergency Response – a 2.5–3 hour session on recognizing warning signs and responding to active shooter situations
Safety is not a one-time task. It’s an ongoing commitment, especially here in Houston where diverse industries face unique risks. Your employees are the heart of your operation, and when they are prepared, your business is stronger too.
If your organization is ready to build a safety-first culture, I’d love to partner with you to make that happen. Just reach out at cprandsafetylady@gmail.com.
Stay safe!
